Signature Pikau | Backpack Wānanga

She has done it again! After being asked, and asked, and asked to bring raranga into the Whare, here we are and Julz has finally said YES to Pikau.

Tāhei Toi, Muka and now Pikau are added to the whanau.

This wānanga is for confident kairaranga who already know how to weave whiri kete. It is not a beginner's raranga workshop and will not cover the foundations of weaving.

The focus of this wānanga is on refining and strengthening the techniques used to create a Signature Pikau | Backpack. Particular attention will be given to achieving a well-formed flat top, with practical tips and guidance on tension, handle attachment, and shaping.

To keep the emphasis on technique rather than pattern, we will be weaving in takirua only. This allows us to focus on structure, consistency, and the finishing details that contribute to a well-crafted pikau.
