About This Kaupapa

Ngā Tae o te Whenua - Colours of the Land is a hands-on Matariki wānanga exploring natural pigments, earth-based colour, and connection to land.

Centred on Papatūānuku, this session invites whānau of Huntly to slow down and engage with whenua through tactile creative process. Participants will explore how natural pigments can be gathered, prepared, observed, and used as a form of creative expression.

The wānanga supports direct connection to mātauranga Māori, taiao awareness, sensory learning, and strong visual outcomes. It is suitable for adults who are curious about natural materials, whenua-based colour, and creative practice grounded in care and respect.
