About This Kaupapa
Join Tuihana for Reimagine your Kākahu, part of the Whare Hau Tutū Sustainability Series, a creative workshop series focused on reuse, upcycling, and making beautiful things from what already exists.
Have a jacket, coat, shirt, pair of jeans, or favourite piece of kākahu sitting in your wardrobe that you love, but feel could do with a little revitalising? This relaxed and inspiring morning is all about breathing new life into the kākahu we already own.
Through creativity, embellishment, upcycling, and a little imagination, Tuihana will guide you through ways to bring harikoa, wheriko, and hā back into treasured pieces. She’ll share examples of her own upcycled jackets, jeans, and garments, helping spark ideas for your own creative direction.
This is not about sewing expertise or creating perfection. It is about reconnecting with your creativity, expressing your unique style, and finding joy in giving something old a new life.
