About This Kaupapa
This workshop is designed for both experienced and first time zinesters and poets! In line with the Whare Hau Tutū ethos, creative play is key!
For first timers, you will learn a bit about the history of zines, different types of zines, and work through a series of poetic exercises to create at least one handmade zine with new lines of poetry.
Facilitated by Marama Salsano and Hāwea Apiata, this workshop also offers space for those who wish to work more autonomously and finish their zines for the 2025 Kirikiriroa Zine Fest held at Hamilton Central Library on Saturday the 17th May. Register soon as spots are limited!
Marama Salsano is a Kirikiriroa based writer-scholar, editor and multidisciplinary artist. Her multigenre zine “Wāhine” won the best political zine award at the 2024 Kirikiriroa Zine Fest. Hāwea Apiata is a Kirikiriroa based writer-scholar, curator and poet. His zine of Māori language…
