About This Kaupapa

Tēnā koutou e hika mā!  Nau mai haramai rā koutou ki tēnei wānanga kōwhaiwhai. Ka akō i ngā tauira me ngā kōrero tuku iho e pā ana ki tēnei momo toi ō tātou te iwi Māori. 


Join Jayden Hokianga and the whānau at Whare Hau Tutū as we explore the foundational design systems and meaning behind kōwhaiwhai. In these sessions, you’ll learn the core principles of kōwhaiwhai, explore pattern systems, structure, purākau, and composition while building confidence through hands-on sketching and design. You’ll leave with a strong cultural and creative foundation, ready to step into the 2-day wānanga with deeper understanding, skill, and respect for this living artform.
